Create a signature image in seconds
Many everyday documents now ask for a signature image: PDFs you fill in on a computer, email footers, online forms, letters and invoices. This tool lets you create one without printing, signing and scanning. Draw your signature in the box with a mouse, a trackpad, your finger on a phone or a stylus on a tablet. The pen follows your movement smoothly, using curves between points rather than jagged straight lines, and on devices with pressure-sensitive pens the stroke gets slightly thicker as you press harder. Made a mistake? Undo removes the last stroke and Clear starts again.
Typed signatures
If drawing with a mouse feels awkward, switch to Type, enter your name and choose a style. The text is drawn using handwriting-style fonts already installed on your device, such as Segoe Script on Windows or Snell Roundhand on Apple devices, so the look varies a little between systems. The name is automatically sized to fit the box.
Download a transparent PNG
Download PNG crops the image tightly around your signature, adds a small margin and saves it at your screen's full resolution, so it stays crisp when placed in a document. The background is transparent by default, which means the signature sits naturally on top of a document, letterhead or coloured background without a white box around it. Tick the white background option if the place you are using it does not support transparency.
Is an image signature legally valid?
In many countries, an electronic signature, including an image of your handwritten signature added to a document with your intent to sign, can be legally valid for ordinary agreements. Some documents, however, require a certified digital signature, a witness or a wet ink signature, for example wills, property deeds or certain government forms. This tool creates the image only; it does not provide identity verification or a tamper-proof record. If in doubt, ask the person or organisation requesting the signature what they accept.
Keep it private
Your signature is drawn on a canvas in your browser and never uploaded. Store the PNG somewhere safe, and only share it with people you trust, as anyone with the file could paste it into a document.
